1. Copyright
The corresponding author of the article as specified within the submitted, hereby transfers copyright and assigns to the AME Publishing Company all rights of the submitted article (and any revisions or versions of it), for sole right to print, publish, distribute and sell the article in all languages and media internationally. The transfer of copyright is deemed in effect if and when the submitted article is accepted for publication. If the submitted article contains any material already protected by prior copyright, the corresponding author will deliver to the Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery written permission from the copyright holder, for the reproduction of the material in this article.
The corresponding author certifies and warrants that he/she is the author and proprietor of the article and that he/she has not granted or assigned any rights of the article to any other person or body. The author warrants that the article is copyrightable and that it does not infringe upon any preexisting copyright, trademark or patent. The corresponding author will indemnify the Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery against any costs, expenses or damages that the Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery may incur, for which the Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery may become liable as a result of any breach of these warranties. 2. Research
Representing all authors, the corresponding author confirms that the submitted article is original work, without fraud or plagiarism; does not infringe on any copyright or other proprietary right of any third party; is not under consideration by another publication; does not contain unlawful, libellous, misrepresentative content, or anything that would constitute a breach of contract or confidence; and has not been previously published.
The corresponding author declares that all authors have made substantial contributions to all of the following parts of the manuscript:
- Research design, or acquisition, analysis or interpretation of data
- Drafting the manuscript or revising it critically
- Approving the submitted manuscript
The corresponding author agrees to communicate with all other authors and will obtain their approval for the final version to be published. The corresponding author also warrants that all authors have read the complete manuscript and understand that if the article or part of the article is found to be faulty or fraudulent, all authors are to share the responsibility. The corresponding author signs for and accepts responsibility for releasing this material, transferring copyright, and affirms that all conflicts of interest are disclosed below on behalf of any and all co-authors.
3. Financial disclosure/conflicts of interest
The corresponding author certifies that all authors of the submitted article have no commercial associations (e.g., consultancies, stock ownership, equity interests, patent-licensing arrangements, etc.) that might pose a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted article, except as disclosed on a separate attachment and noted in the manuscript. All funding sources supporting the work and all institutional or corporate affiliations of the authors are to be acknowledged in a footnote. Authors who have conflicts of interest must provide details of such conflict to the ACS Editorial Office immediately upon submission of the manuscript.
4. Work of the United States Government
If the work is written by an officer or employee of the United States Government as part of his/her official duties, the author must provide written declaration that the work is not subject to US copyright. For more information please contact the ACS Editorial Office.
5. Retractions and Corrections
The Editors-in-Chief may choose to publish a retraction or correction, under special circumstances. This may include situations where the research findings are unreliable owing to misconduct or honest error, plagiarism, unethical research etc. The authors agree to waive any legal liability against the publisher and Editors-in-Chief should a retraction or correction be issued.
6. Manuscript review
The corresponding author, on behalf of all co-authors, agree that the Editors-in-Chief’s decision to publish your manuscript in the Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery is final. The Editors retain the right to edit your manuscript to correct any spelling or syntax errors, to conform to requirements of the Annals’ writing style, and on occasions to enhance expressions or clarify meaning.
